Waitrose Maipo Valley Sauvignon Blanc 2007
I was so looking forward to this wine after the Cabernet Sauvignon from the same winery. But what a disappointment. Whether it was because the wine was so young I just don’t know, but the wines certainly don’t compare - they’re leagues apart!
To me, it tasted like a poor, cheap, chardonay, full of residual sugar; this is a real shame, because up until now I haven’t had a bad example of a chilean wine (that I can remember).
Maybe the reason is it’s a white and chilean wineries aren’t up to producing good whites - I don’t know.
But I’d seriously suggest avoiding this wine - you can buy two cheap bottles, probably enjoy them more, and still have change!
