Tesco Tempranillo 2005
I was in Tesco’s on Thursday, in a bit of a rush, but noticed they were advertising 20% off wines including Champagne - guaranteed to pique my interest.
Today, I thought, stop off, pickup some lunch and have a look at these 20% offers.
Didn’t get any further than an end-aisle promotion. Tesco selected 2005 Tempranillo and under a fiver.
At the same time I picked a bottle of Chillean Sauvignon blanc, but although only 50p cheaper it just wasn’t in the same league.
What surprised me was the mellow, rounded flavour and finish of this delicious red. Alongside the Campo Viejo Crianza Rioja this is going to be a spanish red favourite of mine, and over a quid cheaper than the Viejo.
It almost seems too cheap so I’d check it out if you like your Tempranillos.
Can’t see this bottle lasting the night out, and I’d better sign out and cook the dinner otherwise a ravenous wife, on her return from work isn’t going to be a happy bunny.
Goodnight…
