Soltero Sicilian Red
It’s not often I get excited about a sub £3.00 wine although there are quite a few worth the price tag. But this Soltero Sicilian Red could bear a hike to £3.99 and still represent value for money.
The wine is made from a blend of southern Italian grape varieties including Nero D’Avola - see half way down the page and Sangiovese.
And it’s all grown, produced and bottled on the Settesoli estate.
A bit of googling has revealed that the term”Indicazione Geografica Tipica” found on the bottle’s blurb means the wine could be from anywhere on the island - it seems the Italian government want to lay down “official” areas, but as indicated on the Wines of Sicily website the quality growers and producers don’t need government recognition to sell their wines.
Why not try this wine and leave a comment?
